Welcome to Jewel Lake our Mountain Gem! We want to thank you in advance for being good guests who are respectful of our Cottage. Our “Rainbow Cottage” is very special to us and our families. Please take good care of it. The quality of guests gives us the confidence to share it with others. Please communicate with other guests who are a part of your group the following information.

Check-in/check-out

Check in time is 3:00 pm

Check out time is 11:00 am on your departure date.

Keypad entry

For your stay, the keypad lock should be set to the last 4 digits of your home telephone number. PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR CHILDREN PLAY WITH THE BUTTONS ON THE KEYPAD OF THE DOOR LOCK AS THEY MAY DISRUPT YOUR ENTRY CODE AND YOU SHALL BE  LOCKED OUT OF THE COTTAGE.-KEYS ARE NOT SUPPLIED TO GUESTS. If you should get locked out please contact Darlene or Malcholm at 135 Enterprise Ave.

Parking

There is plenty of parking on the lake side of the cottage. Should you wish to use this area to hang out, build a fire, park further along the driveway.

Telephone

There is no cell service at Jewel Lake. The cottage is not yet hooked to telephone service. If you need to make a call you may do so at the Logan household – 135 Enterprise Ave. You can leave their number as an emergency contact 250-445-2215. If you should get a call, we will let you know ASAP. If we are not at home, there is a pay phone at Jewel Lake Resort. We do have 911 services in the area.

KITCHEN

Provided for your use is a microwave, stove, fridge, coffee maker, central vac, dishes, pots, pans, linens. There is no dishwasher. Central Vacuum hose is located in the closet in the kitchen, along with broom, mop and cleaning equipment. We do not expect you to do any major cleaning. Equipment is for your use should there be a major spill or a light clean up of traffic dirt. There is also a fire extinguisher in the closet should you need it.

Tv and dvd/CD PLAYER

There is a small cd player, TV and DVD and a VHS player in the living area of the cottage. We have provided a small selection of movies for your enjoyment. At this time we do not receive television reception.

Laundry facilities

There is a washer and dryer in the bathroom. Please only 2 loads per day due to septic system restrictions. Please use only biodegradable laundry products that are provided.                   

Bathroom

For your enjoyment we have a turn of the century authentic claw foot tub. Bubbles and towels are provided. Please do not remove towels from the cottage. Please watch your step, the tub has high sides.

Fire pit

There is a fire pit  on the east side of the parking area.(Lake Side) Please use this area as it has been prepared for fire.( A new spot will burn underground for days) Firewood is provided for reasonable use. Paper for fire can be found in the recycle bin located on the deck.  If more firewood is needed it can be purchased for a small fee. Please do not remove any wood from the property. Please only small Fires with flames no larger that 18” high. We are in a forest fire area with no fire protection service. Please put your fire out at night and when not in attendance. There is a hose attached nearby the fire pit. Use lots of water. If there is a camp fire ban in force you will be informed.

Barbecue

There is a barbecue on the covered deck for your use. Please insure you cook all bits of food off after use. Anything that may be left could entice a bear on your deck. Please turn off propane after use. If there is fire ban on, you are still allowed to use the barbecue. There is a table and chairs on the deck for your dining pleasure.

Garbage

  A garbage container is provided (please use garbage bags also provided) in the hall area. If your garbage becomes full or smelly, please let us know and we will take it away for you. If you have food waste (meat scraps etc.), please freeze it so odors are not an issue. When your garbage needs to be removed, add the frozen waste. For your vegetable waste we have a compost pail under the kitchen sink. When full let us know and we will empty it into our compost.  Please do not leave ANYTHING (garbage or food) outside as it could and will attract bears. For your convenience we have a  Green  and blue recycle boxes on the deck road side. You may leave clean papers, tin, glass, cans and bottles and all plastics in the recycle boxes.

Important notes:

Please keep all doors and screens closed to keep any little friendly forest creatures out.       Chipmunks, squirrels, mice and many bugs will move right in if the door is open.

Rainbow Cottage is designated No Smoking. Smoking is allowed on the deck, an ashtray  is  provided. Please ensure no  butts are left in the yard areas. We really appreciate your cooperation.

Rainbow Cottage is on a septic system and we ask that nothing but toilet paper be  flushed. Please no feminine hygiene products. Do not put grease or coffee grounds down the kitchen sink.

Please leave Rainbow Cottage clean and tidy. By this we mean dishes must be clean and put away, floors generally clean and any major spills in stove and oven cleaned up. We do come in to clean between guests, but do not have time for excessive clean up. Cabin water is from a drilled well, it is safe to drink. Please if you have used a bed, do not make it when checking out.

In the event of a power outage, you will not have any water as the pump is electric. Fortis tries to restore power as soon as they can. There is a flashlight in the closet by the kitchen and we  will provide extra flashlights if needed. Please contact us if you have any concerns.                                                                                                                                  

Please remember that Rainbow Cottage use is for guests booked at the property only. Please keep visitors to a minimum. Quiet time is from 11:00 pm to 8:00 am, but loud noise, music, yelling etc. is not allowed at any time. Jewel Lake is known for being peaceful and generally quiet, day and night. Please be respectful of the neighbors. Please be respectful of the lake and the neighboring trails. Leave it as you found it or better. This area is our back yard.

A well behaved pet is allowed, but only with permission prior to arrival and the charge is $15.00 per pet per night. Please keep them off the beds and furniture. You must pick up after your pet to keep grounds clean. There is a pet waste container next to the recycle bin for your convenience. Please include pet waste with your garbage. Do not leave your pet unattended. Thank you.

There is a path, 95 paces…to the waters edge please feel free to come and go as you wish.

 We do have a private dock for your use.  Please do not allow your children to swim unattended. Use of dock  is at your own risk.

There are several launch areas at Jewel Lake, we will be glad to direct you to them when you arrive. If you only have canoe or kayak you can launch from Enterprise access or our yard.

There is a restriction of no Jet skis and a limit of 10 hp motor on Jewel Lake. Please be sure your water crafts have been inspected for any milfoil. Our lake is Milfoil Free.

Booking policy

We do not have credit card payment option. Your personal cheque, money order, etransfer, or cash will be accepted.

We require a booking deposit of 50% of the total cost of the rental. Booking deposit is required to hold booking. Full payment is due 14 days before arrival.

There is a security/ damage deposit of another 50% of total rent payable with a separate cheque. This will be returned to you or destroyed, after the cottage has been inspected and there is no damage.

If you decide to include your damage/ security deposit cheque with your booking deposit please post date this cheque with the dates of your booking. Make all cheques payable to Jewel Lake Cottage Ventures.                                                                                                                                                                                                                  

7 day Cancellation policy

Cancellation fees are equivalent to one nights stay per person as per booking.

Cancellations made within 14 days or less prior to arrival date results in full penalty.

 NO REFUND   NO EXCEPTIONS

Cancellations made 14 days or more prior to arrival will be subject to $15.00 fee per person

NO CHANGES PERMITTED.

After you have agreed to the information sheet included; signed below and we have received this page of our contract in our office along with your booking deposit, your booking is confirmed at “Rainbow Cottage” at 15 Enterprise Ave. Jewel Lake.

We will honor the policies of “Rainbow Cottage” vacation home at 15 Enterprise Ave, which is documented in the information sheet, and realize that if we do not, we can be asked to leave without any refund. We accept liability for any damage caused, items missing and /or extra cleaning that needs to be done as a result of our stay. We also take responsibility for all guests that are booking with us and or any people and all pets who visit the property during our stay.
